Cross-State Insurance Poses Challenges, Texas Sens. Told

Law360, Dallas (August 30, 2012, 4:36 PM EDT) -- Texas’ insurance commissioner on Thursday told a Senate committee if the state wants to create a cross-state health insurance exchange, it faces an uphill battle against entrenched regulatory infrastructure and possible resistance from insurance carriers.

In an interim hearing on the issue, the State Affairs Committee also heard that potential cost savings for Texans buying insurance from other states would be minimal and could leave them with less of a voice in their coverage.
