Schwarzenegger Bets Big On Statewide Health Care

Law360 (October 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger released revised details of his statewide health care reform bill on Tuesday and proposed using the California lottery to help pay the tab.

The goal of the $14 billion plan is to make health insurance a manageable requirement for every Californian. By some estimates, nearly 4.9 million people in California are going without health insurance at any given time.

The latest version of the bill is intended to make state-mandated health insurance more affordable for working families, Schwarzenegger's office said.
