Chrysler Deal May Herald New Era Of Compromise

Law360 (October 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The nationwide walkout at 48 Chrysler plants Wednesday morning was called off in the afternoon, when the United Auto Workers said it reached a tentative agreement with Chrysler on a new four-year contract. Just what role the strike played in brokering the deal, however, is unknown.

“This agreement was made possible because UAW workers made it clear to Chrysler that we needed an agreement that rewards the contributions they have made to the success of this company,” said UAW president Ron Gettelfinger.
