Altoona Health System Sued Over OT Pay Practices

Law360, Philadelphia (August 22, 2012, 7:41 PM EDT) -- Altoona Regional Health System is being sued by a former medical secretary who alleges in a putative class action that the company failed to properly compensate workers for overtime under the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, in a case removed to federal court Wednesday.

Carol Sweeney, who worked for the health care company for nearly 20 years, claimed that the company’s so-called 8/80 work schedule, while allowable under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, was not legal under state law.
