Chesapeake Mishandling Well Interests, Royalty Owner Says

Law360, Houston (August 22, 2012, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. on Tuesday was sued in Texas federal court by a commercial royalty owner that alleges the energy giant is mismanaging its interests in more than 115 oil and gas wells, breaching the companies’ development agreement.

Among other things, MDU Barnett LP claims that Chesapeake has refused to fully pay production proceeds it is owed, overcharges for expenses and ignores requests for information relating to the wells, all of which allegedly violate an exploration and development agreement the companies signed.
