Web Telephony Boots Sunrocket From VoIP Case

Law360 (October 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bankrupt Sunrocket Corp. became the latest defendant to be released from Web Telephony LLC's Internet-phone infringement suit on Wednesday, with Web Telephony apparently deciding that efforts at recovery were futile.

A judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas granted Web Telephony's motion to dismiss, which was filed Monday with Sunrocket's agreement. The judge's order dismisses all charges against Sunrocket without prejudice.

The lawsuit accuses several telecommunications and Internet firms of infringing two patents for voice-over-Internet protocol technology. The patents are collectively...
