NYC Passes Bill To Put Permanent Climate Cops On Beat

Law360, New York (August 23, 2012, 4:11 PM EDT) -- The New York City Council on Tuesday passed legislation supported by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to create a panel that will permanently monitor how global warming will affect New York City, especially its infrastructure and vulnerable populations.

The panel will meet twice a year to look at recent scientific data related to climate change and its potential impacts on the city’s communities, vulnerable populations, public health, natural systems, critical infrastructure, buildings and economy, according to the legislation, which strengthens the 2008 New York City Climate Protection Act...
