Homeless Group Says Property Takeover Policy Should Stand

Law360, New York (August 24, 2012, 9:06 PM EDT) -- The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty on Thursday objected to a federal effort to vacate a 1993 court order requiring conversion of unused buildings into housing for the homeless, saying nothing has changed to warrant the overturning of the order.

Despite the government's argument that it has an “unblemished record of compliance,” it failed to provide evidence to that end or to meet its burden of establishing a change in circumstances rendering the court's 1993 order unnecessary, according to the NLCHP.
