Insurer Sues To Dodge $2M Bill Over Faulty Gulf Rig Repairs

Law360, New York (August 24, 2012, 5:21 PM EDT) -- American Home Assurance Co. launched a suit in Texas federal court Thursday looking to escape indemnifying Oceaneering International Inc. for $2 million the engineering firm must pay in an underlying suit over faulty repairs at a Chevron USA Inc. facility in the Gulf of Mexico.

American Home contends that Oceaneering's faulty repair at the Chevron facility was not covered under its commercial general liability policy, which was valid from April 2002 to October 2003, because the repair job didn't qualify as property damage or bodily injury....
