Judge OKs Calpine Agreement With HSBC

Law360, New York (October 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge signed off on a settlement between bankrupt energy company Calpine Corp. and HSBC Bank, ending a battle over nearly $110 million in claims.

Judge Burton Lifland of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of New York said in an order Wednesday that the agreement that shifted the disputed claim to an unsecured claim of about $54 million was a fair, prudent and reasonable compromise that took into account the complexity of the litigation, among other things.
