Pfizer Failed To Warn Of Azithromycin Side Effects, Suit Claims

Law360, New York (August 27, 2012, 7:18 PM EDT) -- Pfizer Inc. was hit with a lawsuit in New York state court Monday alleging the pharmaceutical giant negligently failed to warn consumers that its antibiotic Azithromycin could cause a life-threatening allergic reaction and skin disorder called Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

In the suit, Mary Alexander, the mother of Florida child Aleigh Alexander, alleges that her daughter suffered a severe allergic reaction in August 2009 immediately after taking Azithromycin.
