Baby Literacy Co. Reaches $185M Deal With FTC Over Ads

Law360, New York (August 28, 2012, 6:12 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has reached a $185 million settlement with two of the three defendants in its suit over the alleged false marketing of Your Baby Can Read!, a program that claims it can teach literacy to children as young as 9 months old, the agency said Tuesday.

Your Baby Can LLC and its former CEO Hugh Penton Jr. agreed to accept a $185 million consent judgment — equivalent to the company's sales since January 2008 — and to avoid further use of the term...
