Citing New Regs, Archer Atty Chooses Firm Over Judicial Post

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 8:55 PM EDT) -- A longtime New Jersey municipal judge quit his post on Tuesday, saying new rules barring municipal judges from associating with law firms that make political contributions have forced him to choose between the bench and his partnership at Archer & Greiner PC.

In a letter submitted to municipal court administrators in the Village of Ridgewood, Judge Philip F. Sheridan Jr. said it was with deep regret that he will give up his 24-year tenure on the bench effective Sept.1.
