Kuwait Wins Aussie Offshore Gas Exploration Rights

Law360, New York (August 29, 2012, 7:46 PM EDT) -- A unit of state-run Kuwait Petroleum Corp. has landed a concession from the Western Australian state government to begin looking for hydrocarbons off the southwestern Australian coast, according to a Tuesday news report out of the Middle East.

Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co., better known as Kufpec, landed the rights to the WA-481-P block, which encompasses approximately 6,757 square miles in the territorial waters off Perth, according to a statement Kufpec made to the government-owned Kuwait News Agency, commonly referred to as Kuna.
