Nuance Loses Out In Voice-Recognition Patent Case

Law360 (October 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a reversal of fortune for Massachusetts-based Nuance Communications Inc., a federal appeals court has affirmed AllVoice Computing PLC’s voice-recognition patent that translates dictation in a word-processing program.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Friday overturned a lower court’s judgment invalidating the English company’s patent, finding that the district court erred in both its indefiniteness and best mode analysis.
