Hitachi Unit Accused Of Breaching Blade Server Tech Patent

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 6:45 PM EDT) -- In its latest lawsuit over patented blade server devices, Acceleron LLC sued a unit of Hitachi Ltd. on Tuesday in Georgia federal court for allegedly unauthorized use of technology that prevents disruptions to large computer networks.

Georgia-based Acceleron is targeting Hitachi’s Compute line of blade server equipment, which it says contains proprietary “hot-swap” technology. The patented system allows maintenance of file servers and storage servers without shutting off power or resetting an entire computer system, keeping users online and sparing them inconvenience.
