FTC Sues To Get Patient Data Spreadsheet From LabMD

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 7:22 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission asked a federal judge on Wednesday to force medical testing provider LabMD Inc. to comply with the agency’s requests for data in an investigation into whether patients’ private information is properly protected.

LabMD originally came under FTC scrutiny in 2009 when, as part of a larger probe into the safety of consumers’ personally identifiable information on the Internet, the agency requested a spreadsheet that contained information for 9,000 LabMD patients.
