General Mills Sued Over Nature Valley 'All Natural' Claims

Law360, New York (August 31, 2012, 5:24 PM EDT) -- A pair of consumers launched a putative class action in Minnesota on Thursday accusing General Mills Inc. of deceptively advertising its Nature Valley products as all natural, alleging that this labeling breached the products' warranties.

Despite touting its Nature Valley line of granola bars as "100 percent natural," these products are highly processed and contain sugar substitutes such as high fructose corn syrup and high maltose corn syrup as well as the texturizer maltodextrin, according to plaintiffs Tracie Chin and Salvatore Montalbano.
