Texas Proposes Fracking Rules To Protect Groundwater

Law360, Dallas (September 7, 2012, 2:50 PM EDT) -- The Railroad Commission of Texas on Friday published a set of proposed rules aimed at preventing contamination of groundwater from fracking or other oil and gas drilling operations, largely adopting existing industry best practices.

The rule changes follow a legislative mandate that shifted oversight of protecting groundwater from oil and gas from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to the Railroad Commission.
