Pfizer Hit With $5M Jury Verdict In Prempro Battle

Law360, New York (September 7, 2012, 11:13 PM EDT) -- A Utah federal jury on Friday handed a $5.1 million verdict to a woman who it said had shown enough proof that Pfizer Inc. units Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc.’s  Prempro, Premarin and other menopause hormone therapy drugs caused her breast cancer.

After a roughly three-week trial that began Aug. 14, the jury said Toshiko Okuda had sufficiently proven her claim against the company for negligent failure to warn about the potential side effects of the Premarin and Prempro hormone therapy drugs. ...
