Records For $475M In Afghan Army Fuel Buys Destroyed

Law360, New York (September 10, 2012, 5:07 PM EDT) -- American and NATO officials in Afghanistan shredded more than four years of financial records showing how $475 million in U.S. funding was spent on fuel for the Afghan National Army, according to a government watchdog report released Monday.

The U.S.-led NATO officials destroyed financial records related to fuel purchases for the Afghan National Army between October 2006 and February 2011, according to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, or SIGAR, the government agency tasked with rooting out waste and fraud in the U.S. rebuilding effort....
