Jailed UBS Tax Whistleblower Gets $104M IRS Award

Law360, New York (September 11, 2012, 12:27 PM EDT) -- An incarcerated former UBS AG employee who helped expose the Swiss bank's efforts to shield U.S. clients from taxes on Tuesday received an unprecedented $104 million whistleblower award from the Internal Revenue Service.

Whistleblower Bradley Birkenfeld is still serving a 40-month prison sentence after pleading guilty in June 2008 to one count of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government of approximately $7.2 million in tax revenue.
