Law360, New York (September 11, 2012, 5:07 PM EDT) -- Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee sent armed U.S. marshals to serve subpoenas on U.S. Department of Energy employees and contractors, crossing a line in their long-running investigation of government loans to alternative power companies, the committee’s top Democrat charged Monday.
Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., said four federal agents were sent to DOE offices to serve legal demands for information, and that various staffers have been targeted with “threatening telephone calls, emails and letters.”
