Schwarzenegger Vetoes Employee-Friendly Bills

Law360 (October 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Arguing that California's employment laws are already too confusing, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger recently let expire three bills that would have expanded some of the most employee-friendly laws in the U.S.

The bills, which would have provided employees with more freedom to take leave for medical emergencies and bereavement, expired on Sunday night.

“While some expansion of existing law may have merit, these laws in combination are too expansive and also fail to recognize the need for reforms to current law,” Schwarzenegger said when returning the bills...
