Zillow Says Rival Real Estate Site Copied Home-Value Service

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 4:20 PM EDT) -- Real estate website operator Zillow Inc. on Wednesday accused its industry competitor Trulia Inc. of infringing its patent by offering a home valuation service purportedly based on Zillow's own calculation method.

The suit alleges that the “Trulia Estimate” real estate valuation service offered on the Trulia website is a knockoff of Zillow's “Zestimate” valuation system, accusing its rival of infringing U.S. Patent Number 7,970,674 B2 by bringing the competing service to market.
