Con Edison Blames NYC For Pipe Explosion

Law360, New York (October 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Consolidated Edison Co., the utility giant which has become the target of a series of lawsuits following the fatal explosion of its steam pipe in midtown Manhattan, is looking to lay blame for the incident on the city.

Con Edison filed a notice of claim on Monday that alleged the “acts or omissions of the city” may have led to the July 18 blast, which caused one woman to suffer a fatal heart attack and hurt about 40 people.
