Lamborghini Recalls 1,500 Sports Cars Over Fire Risk

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 1:52 PM EDT) -- Italian luxury automaker Automobili Lamborghini SpA is recalling approximately 1,500 Gallardo Coupe and Spyder sports cars because of leaking fluid from high pressure steering pipes that could result in a fire, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Wednesday.

Certain driving conditions in the 2004 to 2006 model year Gallardo vehicles, which can run consumers upwards of $200,000 to purchase, could cause leaks from the pipes. An ignition source near the leaking fluid could cause a fire in the vehicles, Lamborghini said.
