Audit Finds Holes In Texas' Unemployment Tax Oversight

Law360, Dallas (September 14, 2012, 4:14 PM EDT) -- Texas Workforce Commission employees aren't following proper procedure in evaluating unemployment tax reports from employers and are too slow to collect unpaid unemployment taxes, according to a report issued by the Texas State Auditor's Office on Tuesday.

The report said the agency does not consistently ensure that employer tax audit results are accurate or document why tax audits are rejected.
