Ex-Sigma Exec Denies Antitrust Tactics In Pipe Fitting Case

Law360, Washington (September 13, 2012, 10:24 PM EDT) -- A former Sigma Corp. executive at a Federal Trade Commission price-fixing trial Thursday denied having anti-competitive sentiments toward a Sigma competitor when it reached a deal with McWane Inc. to sell domestic iron products, despite internal company memos focused on undercutting the rival.

FTC attorneys pointed to internal Sigma documents from 2009 that said the ductile iron pipe fittings supplier intended to prevent Star Pipe Products Ltd.'s domestic growth by teaming up with McWane during the trial against McWane for alleged price-fixing of imported pipe fittings....
