Kodak Mothballs Patent Sale, Weighs Licensing Instead

Law360, New York (September 14, 2012, 2:04 PM EDT) -- Bankrupt Eastman Kodak Co. put an oft-delayed auction of its digital imaging patents on hold indefinitely Friday, telling a New York bankruptcy court that it might license the 1,100 patents through a subsidiary instead.

Kodak, which has been trying to sell the patents since before its bankruptcy filing in January, said that while its thus-far fruitless negotiations with potential bidders will continue, if an auction never happens it was considering "other alternatives" to an auction along with some of its creditors.
