BP, Texas Plaintiffs Debate Lord Browne Deposition

Law360 (October 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An attorney for British Petroleum and an attorney for plaintiffs suing BP over the fatal 2005 explosion at the company's Texas City refinery squared off before the Texas Supreme Court Thursday over the plaintiffs' bid to depose former BP chief executive Lord John Browne.

Lord Browne was responsible for paring down BP's budget following its merger with Amoco in the late 1990s, a move which led to the Texas City explosion, said Brent Coon, who argued on behalf of the plaintiffs' steering committee at Thursday's hearing....
