Galveston Sues Texas Insurance Pool Over Hurricane Claims

Law360, Dallas (September 14, 2012, 10:04 PM EDT) -- The city of Galveston on Wednesday sued the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association for breach of contract and violations of the state insurance code, joining the chorus of thousands of plaintiffs who say the insurer underpaid and wrongly denied their claims after 2008's Hurricane Ike.

TWIA has been the subject of a storm of controversy over its response to the hurricane that hit land four years ago Thursday, and the Galveston Daily News reports that there have now been 4,846 lawsuits filed against the catastrophe insurance pool....
