National Union Says Policies Bar Coverage For Dish IP Suit

Law360, New York (September 17, 2012, 6:01 PM EDT) -- National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., asked a Colorado federal judge Friday to find that it has no duty to defend Dish Network Corp. in an underlying patent infringement case over an automated telephone system, saying its policies exclude the claims in the suit.

Dish is seeking coverage from several insurers, including National Union, in the underlying suit brought by billionaire inventor Ronald A. Katz who alleges Dish's automated phone services, which allows customers to purchase pay-per-view showings over the telephone, infringe several technologies...
