Avandia Heart Attack Plaintiffs Want Suits Out Of MDL

Law360, New York (September 17, 2012, 9:31 PM EDT) -- A group of plaintiffs urged a Pennsylvania federal judge on Thursday to endorse the transfer of their suits claiming the GlaxoSmithKline PLC diabetes drug Avandia caused heart attacks from multidistrict litigation to the courts where they were filed, arguing the MDL had run its course.

Plaintiffs represented by four firms asked U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe to recommend to the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation that their cases be remanded for further proceedings in California, Nevada, Washington state, Georgia, Minnesota, South Dakota, Missouri, Texas, Maryland,...
