Alaven Seeks $10M From Insurers For Reglan Defense

Law360, New York (September 18, 2012, 12:39 PM EDT) -- Alaven Pharmaceutical LLC sued Columbia Casualty Co. and First Specialty Insurance Corp. on Friday in Georgia federal court in an attempt to compel $10 million in defense costs for litigation related to injury claims from digestion medication Reglan.

Both primary carrier Columbia and excess carrier FSIC have denied coverage based on their claim that at the time the policies were issued, Alaven had a reason to know it would become embroiled in thousands of claims based on Reglan, which has been linked to the neurological disorder...
