Watson Sued By Fertility Drug Rival Over Ad Campaign

Law360, New York (September 20, 2012, 1:40 PM EDT) -- Ferring Pharmaceuticals Inc. sued rival Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. in New Jersey federal court Monday for allegedly gaining an unfair leg up in the fertility drug market through a vast false advertising campaign involving shoddy opinion polls, lies about treatment risks, and inaccurate claims about effectiveness.

The lawsuit centers on Watson’s alleged statements that its vaginal progesterone gel, known as Crinone, produces more pregnancies and is safer and more convenient than Ferring’s vaginal capsule, known as Endometrin.
