Ex-CME Group Engineer Admits To Stealing Trade Secrets

Law360, Chicago (September 19, 2012, 5:06 PM EDT) -- An ex-CME Group Inc. senior software engineer pled guilty to two counts of trade secrets theft in Illinois federal court Wednesday, admitting he made off with the company's source code while planning to launch a business to boost trade on a Chinese futures exchange.

Chunlai Yang, 49, pled guilty before U.S. District Judge John W. Darrah under a deal with prosecutors in which he copped to downloading more than 10,000 files containing CME source code that included code related to CME's Globex electronic trading platform....
