Apple's EU E-Book Deal Doesn't Signal US Settlement

Law360, New York (September 19, 2012, 9:39 PM EDT) -- Offers from Apple Inc. and Macmillan Publishers' parent company to resolve the European Commission's e-book price-fixing investigation don't necessarily indicate a willingness to settle with U.S. regulators, experts said Wednesday, with the U.S. watchdog's higher burden of proof and inability to impose antitrust fines making a deal at home much less attractive.
