Chicago Developer Sues Enbridge Over Mich. Oil Spill

Law360, New York (September 19, 2012, 7:54 PM EDT) -- Prominent Chicago developer and investor Mark Falanga brought suit in Michigan federal court Wednesday claiming Enbridge Energy Partners LP is liable for completely destroying a pristine 420-acre property he and his business partners were developing into a $14 million community vineyard.

The suit alleges Enbridge’s July 2010 pipeline rupture and subsequent massive crude oil spill near Marshall, Mich., was the result of years' worth of recklessness and negligence in Enbridge’s operation of the 40-year-old Line 6B pipeline.
