Google, Apple Slammed With Suits Over Mobile Web Patents

Law360, New York (September 20, 2012, 1:42 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. and Apple Inc. are facing allegations that their line of mobile device applications and other related services infringe a series of inventions held by patent group Unwired Planet LLC, which filed separate lawsuits against the technology giants in Nevada federal court on Wednesday.

Unwired Planet alleges infringement of a total of 20 patents — 10 against Google and 10 against Apple — in its lawsuits, saying that the Silicon Valley companies are offering their customers mobile apps, location services, cloud messaging functionality and other features that draw on Unwired Planet's patent portfolio.
