National Oilwell Varco Claims Competitor Stole Designs

Law360, Houston (September 21, 2012, 9:20 PM EDT) -- National Oilwell Varco LP launched a suit in Texas state court Friday, alleging that one of its employees was paid by a competitor to steal proprietary blueprints for oil field equipment in order to produce knockoffs in China for resale in the U.S.

Describing the case as “industrial espionage and trade secret theft on an international scale,” National Oilwell Varco claims that Houston-based Mud King Products Inc., its chief operating officer and another employee paid an unnamed female employee at National Oilwell Varco to make copies...
