Lawmakers Push 2nd Circ. To Find DOMA Legal

Law360, New York (September 27, 2012, 6:00 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday asked the Second Circuit to overturn a ruling finding the federal Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional, arguing that the courts should give the legislative process time to work.

Gays have enough political clout to change the definition of marriage without resorting to court challenges, a lawyer for the House told an appeals court panel at oral arguments.
