Full 7th Circ. Won't Revisit Ex-Ill. Gov. Ryan's Appeal

Law360, New York (September 24, 2012, 8:01 PM EDT) -- The full Seventh Circuit won't rehear imprisoned ex-Illinois Gov. George Ryan's bid for a new corruption trial after a three-judge panel said in August that a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision hadn't invalidated his convictions, the appeals court said Monday.

In a brief decision, the appeals court said an en banc court won't revisit the panel's finding that an alleged error in the instructions given to the Ryan jury was harmless, the second time that Ryan has tried to cut short his 6 1/2-year prison sentence...
