Spotlight On UK's Changing Employment Laws

Law360, New York (September 27, 2012, 1:41 PM EDT) -- On Sept.14, the U.K. government announced that it is consulting on proposals, which, if implemented, will have a significant impact on the U.K. workplace and U.K. employment litigation.[1]

From 1999 to date, the limit on the maximum compensatory award[2] for a successful unfair dismissal claim has increased by over 600 percent. The government is now proposing to reduce the cap from its current level of £72,300 to the lower of either a new reduced limit or the equivalent of 12 months’ salary for the employee....
