Med Tech Gets Behind Medtronic In High Court Brief

Law360, New York (October 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An amicus brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday argued that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration should be the only regulator of medical devices in the United States.

The Advanced Medical Technology Associations, along with a coalition of related organizations, filed a joint amicus brief Friday in the matter of Riegel v. Medtronic Inc. The brief said the FDA alone can ensure safe access to new medical devices, and federal regulations regarding those devices should trump state laws and state court rulings....
