UnitedHealth Wins Round In Fight With Excess Insurers

Law360, New York (September 27, 2012, 6:32 PM EDT) -- A Minnesota federal judge on Thursday refused to nix UnitedHealth Group Inc.'s method of submitting claims to its excess insurers in a coverage dispute over health claim reimbursement litigation, also granting United’s bid for partial judgment against one of the insurers.

U.S. District Judge Patrick J. Schiltz ruled that while United’s change to a new claims "allocation" theory after several years of litigation in the case was “far from admirable,” it wasn’t egregious enough to support the motion by Columbia Casualty Co. and Fireman’s Fund Insurance...
