Terra Firma Asks 2nd Circ. For New Trial In EMI Deal Suit

Law360, New York (October 4, 2012, 8:16 PM EDT) -- Private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd. on Thursday asked the Second Circuit for a new trial on allegations that a Citigroup banker tricked it into spending more than £4 billion ($6.5 billion) for music company EMI, saying the jury was not properly instructed. 

The U.S. court that tried the case did not properly instruct the jury on U.K. fraud law, which applied in this case, a lawyer for the London-based private equity firm told a panel of Second Circuit judges at oral arguments....
