Supreme Court Won't Take Up Rolls-Royce Trade Secrets Case

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 2:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to reconsider a helicopter engine repair shop's claims that it didn't abuse Rolls-Royce Corp.'s trade secrets by using technical information it alleges was necessary for the maintenance of engines under Federal Aviation Administration rules.

The high court declined to grant a writ of certiorari to AvidAir Helicopter Supply Inc., which sought to challenge last year's Eighth Circuit ruling upholding a lower court's determination that the repair operation exploited Rolls-Royce's trade secrets by using the purportedly confidential overhaul specifications, and...
