Law Firms Set Sights On Smaller Deals In Q3

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 4:46 PM EDT) -- Though the rate of law firm acquisitions and mergers continues to trod along steadily this year, legal consultant Altman Weil Inc. says many are playing it safe by targeting small entities that will boost one particular facet of their firm.

Altman Weil reports 14 mergers and acquisitions among U.S.-based law firms in the third quarter of 2012 — up from 11 the previous quarter — four of which were mergers and 10 of which were acquisitions of smaller firms.
