ExxonMobil Suffers Blow Over Worker Penalty

Law360 (October 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has handed ExxonMobil a defeat in the energy giant’s dispute with a union over its punishment for a worker who exhibited “willful disregard” for one of its safety regulations, choosing to side with an arbitrator’s previous ruling.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Dennis Cavanaugh issued a ruling in favor of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 11 after Exxon failed to persuade the court that the arbitrator’s ruling should be tossed out.
